The Great Lighthouse was once called the pearl spire for when seen from leagues out on sea it would pierce the sky with brilliant white light. Over a hundred stories tall the lighthouse is a marvel of engineering even the most boast full of Rivershear wouldn’t admit to knowing how it was built. It is rumoured several Shards maintained magical labs at different levels in the lighthouse, that a dragon nested near the pinnacle and that the light was a piece of the very sun pinched from the sky to keep it lit in even in the worst of storms. All that is known as truth is that since the Night of Fire the Lighthouse is dark on the stormiest of nights and shines a fell light when it is clear.

“We sailed twenty nights times twenty nights from Sherif and hope was as thin as the midshipmen’s corpse we hung from the jib. No food for twenty moons, no water for five. Then out of no where the pearl cut through the clouds and our path was lit. Even men crippled with sickness had more strength than they did when we launched and by her light we made it to the delta of the Rivershear docks. Brother wolf forgive me but I will always set aside a coin in prayer for the pearl and I fear for the day we sailors might lose her favour. Because that day we are truly lost.
