Known as the last of the free Shards, Kontaro escaped the trap the Eyes of Morrow set for him and fled into the west beyond the reach of Rivershear. It is said many of the common folk sided with Kontaro as he had always fought for them and with them against the gods, but others only feared what he would become.
Astride his dragon Maorvo, Kontaro evaded those who would hunt him and hid deep in unexplored lands where he gathered his strength. Many hunters and sellswords sought him for the bounty at first, then for the glory, till even they forgot he existed outside of legend.
Where Kontaro went is a mystery, or how he found the power to destroy the Durance. The where and how didn’t matter though, he was able to bring power to bear greater than anything the gods had shown the world. He tore magic apart and threw fire and stone at the location of the Durance, now Caer Carnalon until the power holding the Durance split apart.
It is said Kontaro was ultimately destroyed by the great undead dragon as he struck it down.
Inform the Pontifex we have lost the Shard. Maorvo is faster than my swiftest air ship and it is clear he seeks not to engage us, but to leave this place. The Wrens are loyal but we will not continue to chase ghosts. We have outposts and brothers across the realm to save. We gnomes might be small but we cannot be pushed around.
