Most believe that the gnomes are one of the younger races, having not been seen since far later than others. This is a misconception. The gods that created the gnomes kept them close in hidden places and taught them the secrets of magic and technology. They built massive cities powered by steam and fire and when they were ready they emerged. The most visible face of the new gnomish empire is the Wren Fleet, an armada of airships that act as their arbiter of justice as well as a powerful engine of commerce across the realm.

In regards to the other races

Gnomes see every other race as a potential client or competitor. They treat with respect and honour agreements to the letter. If tested or betrayed though they turn their impressive intellects and creativity to well crafted revenge.

In regards to undead

There are some in the empire that have suggested harnessing the power of the void and the undead for power and labor but most vehemently disagree arguing that the ascendency of undead means the death of he very customers they need to continue their research and invention.
