Six years prior to the Night of Fire a slave army of the Dominic Empire marched to the border of the dwarves at Ragath Keep and demanded their immediate and unconditional surrender. The halls of power from Carnelon to Rivershear was abuzz with speculation. While the dwarves no doubt had an overwhelming amount of firepower to destroy the army there was a thousand fold slaves waiting to take their place and there was a chance that eventually the sheer amount of slaves would eventually overwhelm the dwarves. Both sides of the conflict seemed unable to back down however and war was waged in earnest. No foreign power backed either side and for years the two traded fire steel and blood.
It was only when a dwarven diplomat came from Rivershear and rushed to the council of elders did the dwarves sought any terms with the Dominics. They offered enough for the slave generals to save face and what was called the Reckoned peace began. Thoughts of war still simmer in the halls of both empires but the night of fire and its impact keep them at arms length.
It was glorious and terrifying. A wave of flesh, barely armed and unarmored slaves crashing upon the rock of buttresses as rockets and fire cascaded down upon them. Thousands dead every night. The Dominics earned ten yards a day and I hear they could continue for years. How little we care for life. I recommend we move all librarians and documents from the entire ledger as a matter of continuity in case the region falls.
