Again we could hear them in the depths. Angus and I were the only men here but you could hear the chipping away at the stone. The knocking. Whispers like miners were down there with us. Enough to drive a man mad.

Overheard at the Black Cat inn. Rivershear

The creation of a talented shard looking for protection for her underground fortress, the knocker resembles what could be only described as a living shadow. It is not in fact, and instead is covered in a pitch black hairless hide that seems to absorb all light. It has long spindly arms ending in vicious claws. Since their master was imprisoned the Knockers escaped and spread throughout the realm. This fact has frightened and intrigued scholars and mining guilds alike as it suggests there are subterranean routes across the world.

The knockers hunt by laying in the heart of mines then impersonating the sounds of a mining operation. This attracts both monsters and other humans alike that are equally favoured as food. While incredibly dangerous there is a burgeoning industry of hunting them for their skin to make protective and items for stealth.
