My enemies are as countless as the berries on the vines. So shall my blades be as numerous. They shall descend on my enemies like the very songbirds on the wing. Stand by me and enjoy the song, stand against me and face its wrath.

Lucas Marlowe – first Duke of Delath, reading from the annals on his assumption of crown general.

Of the many seasoned mercenary companies in the realm, the Sparrow regiment is one of the longest serving. It is said that the formation of the regiment predates most cities but Rivershear and none can point to the very first general or even an original copy of the annals.

The regiment is unique that there are never more or less than twelve hundred members and only the death or retirement of an active member opens a spot in the regiment for another. Couple this with long lasting bonds and alliances with most of the realm’s political players and you have a force of elite veteran members that have at their disposal the knowledge and resources they need to complete their mission.

Command of the regiment rests in a trio of generals: The crown general representing the nobility, the gold general representing their commercial interests, and the beggar general who has the final veto on any contracts and who writes the annals for fallen members.
