History
At one time two separate bodies ruled under the authority of the pontifax in Rivershear, Carnelon was directed by a local lower ranking priest who reported directly to the pontifax. With the destruction of Caer Carnelon and the fall of Rose Coast the village of Rivershear and Bouldershield docks have been completely cut off from direction and help and have had to become self sufficient in short order. The oldest city in the region is Rivershear itself, rumoured to be the first human settlement in the world.
Life in the Carnelon / Estne regions
As the centre of human civilization, the regions are rich with every walk of life, and every magesty and travesty that one can encounter. Before the Night of Fire the region has been relatively peaceful with only smaller conflicts between halflings in the Taig Forest and the local militia protecting logging groups.
Climate and Geography
The region is temperate with a healthy balance between seasons. To the north of Rivershear is a large so far impassible mountain range. To the northwest lays the Burning Sands and to the south the islands kingdoms. to the west and residing close by is the gnomish capital of Cragspeak nestled against a semi active volcano.
Technology
With the gnomish empire right next door, the vast history and education at Rivershear, and a trade with the dwarves, the continent has a vast array of the best invented. Larger settlements have airship landing and workshops and mining operations usually benefit from rail and engines.
Dangers
Since the Night of Fire’s epicentre was at Caer Carnalon most of the worst has hit the area. Traig Forest is now dangerous due to bandits and halfling reprisals, the city of Rose Coast has been overrun with undead, and the Lighthouse south of Rivershear has ceased operating properly.

Player Notes
The starting continent here at Durance is a great place to base a character’s history on. There is a large human population, but also elves, halflings, gnomes and dwarves. Being that it is a melting pot of many cultures and races there is not a unified structure for naming conventions based on real world countries or regions.
