History

Founded on the destruction and assimilation of a hundred smaller empires, the empire strives to control the entire continent that they have named after themselves. Its foundation date almost to the first recorded writings and many of its more powerful families have interfered in the telling of that history so in truth only the library of the Endless possibly know the true facts of its founding. Likewise where its unusual rules for slavery came from is unknown.

Life in the Dominic Empire

For most life in the empire is endless slavery with only a sliver of hope to escape it. Every child is born a slave and is taken by the government to live as a slave until either they or their direct blood family buy their freedom. Individuals can buy their freedom by siring enough children of their own or their family can with a single payment of pure gold. Children are raised and taught with a plan to a specific role in the empire be that a general labourer, a farmer, or a soldier.

Climate and Geography

The empire contains rich growing lands north of the mountain range they call the Heights. From grapes to wheat to olives the empire has land to grow any food it could ever want. Those same mountain peaks are its border with its only land neighbour, the dwarves of Ragath Keep.

Technology

The empire’s reliance on slaves, its lack of higher education, and the hesitance of others to trade technology with them leaves the empire stunted. What little technology it has is held by a small handful of families or used to siege engines for its armies. The armies themselves are armed predominantly with leather armour and spears, both being relatively inexpensive to craft and easy to train.

Dangers

The most visible and embarrassing danger in the empire is the newly fallen city of Castresca that has become a constant bloom of undead led by an intelligent undead. To the southeast there is a major infestation of ogres and to the south is the empire’s long standing enemy of the dwarves.

NPCs of Note

Player Notes

The Dominic empire is a great starting point for a human character and can have a number of unique backgrounds and stories. A shard here could be a slave, former slave, or someone outside the system who has the resources to reside comfortably. The naming system is vaguely close to the Roman Empire and medieval Italy.
